The Roadmap To A Sustainable, Profitable 6-Figure Business

Reaching the coveted 6-figure milestone is a significant achievement for entrepreneurs, reflecting their commitment, dedication and tenacity to grow their business by adding value to others.

As a coach and business strategist who has worked with many entrepreneurs to help them create, grow and scale their businesses to 6 figures, I’ve seen that while no business owner is the same, there are certainly common themes that occur. 

In this blog, I’ll break down the strategies you can adopt to achieve your 6-figure business goal, but it’s key to note that two things underpin my philosophy and approach:

Know your numbers!

To have confidence in your profit margin and be able to make the best strategic decisions, you must know your numbers inside out, each and every day! However, I fully appreciate this can be a squirmy area, particularly for non-finance peeps!

Pivotal Strategies for Reaching the 6-Figure Mark

Common Pitfalls on the Journey to 6 Figures (and How to Avoid Them)

Knowing how you could trip up along the way goes hand in hand with understanding strategies for success. And it’s easy to stumble into these pitfalls without realising. So here are some tips to avoid doing just that!

 

  • Overcommitting and under-delivering: Avoid biting off more than you can chew. Be realistic with your time - while you might think you need a lot of work to achieve 6-figures, it’s not sustainable. That’s why understanding the priorities and what’s just noise through strategic foundations is so important.

 

  • Neglecting client retention: Value your existing clients, not just the new ones! They are as equally important, so don’t take them for granted. I have clients who first worked with me 8 years ago and they continue to come back to work with me. They know me, I know their business and every time they reach a new growth point in their business I am the first person they think of. I am incredibly proud of that! 

 

  • Not investing in self-development or scaling: You are your business. Without you, it doesn’t exist! Prioritise personal growth to strengthen your brand. That also means exploring ways you can scale your business to meet increasing demand, without compromising your time and energy.

 

  • Avoiding delegation or building a supportive team: You can’t do this alone! I understand how hard it is to recognise when you need help, but investing in support will only enable you to grow. Successful 6-figure business owners understand the importance of delegation and outsourcing, allowing them to focus on tasks that truly require their expertise.

Beyond 6 Figures: The Sustainable Road to Continued Growth

Achieving your 6-figure goal is huge, but staying complacent isn’t an option even at that stage! Successful entrepreneurs are always on the lookout for growth opportunities. As a coach, I encourage my clients to aim for sustainable business growth that doesn’t compromise on their boundaries.

 

Strategies can vary - what works for one business won’t for another. Whilst it all hinges on your offer and industry there are three main themes: a scaleable offer, diversification and passive income streams.

 

All of my clients have unique goals and quirks - there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to hitting six figures! Trying the same strategy that worked for someone else is tempting, but it can waste time, energy and even money if it’s not the right approach for you and your goal.

 

It’s important not to rush too - some things happen fast, others take time and that is absolutely fine. It gives you space to fine-tune your approach, switch things up and build a sustainable business.
